David and Christine Phillips’s ’s daughter, Aine, died August 10, 2010 at the age of 8, as a result of an undiagnosed lung disease. The loss of their beloved Aine had devastated them, but beyond what is has done to them as parents, it is the effect it continues to have on Aine’s sister, Bella, who was 5½ at the time, that drives them.

What they’ve discovered along this cruel journey is that, while there are ongoing support groups for bereaved parents, there is little offered for the surviving children.
Thus, they established The Friends of Aine Foundation (friendsofaine.sfo2-stage.techyscouts.dev). A not for profit organization, The Friends of Aine Foundation’s immediate goal is to help fund centers of support, safety and compassion for children who feel alone because their brother, sister, mother or father died too soon. The Foundation is working with Home Health and Hospice Care in Merrimack to establish its first center at their location, and has a fundraising goal of $50,000 to help launch the center.
